Startup Checklist

Power-on and pre-departure sequence.

  • Anchor chain secure
  • Lights properly configured
  • Yanmar — oil level check
  • Yanmar sea cock open (normally it is open)
  • Yanmar kill switch to Run — top of engine block, starboard side
  • Bow Battery Bank On — remote switch at Nav
  • 24 V High — ON — remote switch at Nav
  • VHF — to Ch. 16
  • Pay marina fee
  • Inform marina / harbor master via VHF — departure
  • Check traffic
  • Depth? Hazards on the way out?
  • Hatches closed
  • Cabinets latched
  • Laundry room door closed
